Issues

In addition to our core work on voting and elections, the League of Women Voters advocates for issues that its membership chooses. In order to advocate for an issue, the League must have a position that has been adopted at the state or federal level or studied and come to consensus on as a local League.

In 2021-22  LWV-Wilmette will focus on four advocacy  issues . These are:
  1. Community Engagement & Education: Good Governance
  2. Creating an Inclusive Community
    1. Racial Justice
    2. Affordable Housing
    3. Equal Rights Amendment
  3. Environment
  4. Fair Elections
    1. Voting Rights
    2. Redistricting & Fair Maps
    3. Electoral College Reform
The LWV-Wilmette continues to support work on preventing gun violence and supporting fiscal policy reform in Springfield and nationally.
