​Promote an open governmental system that is representative, accountable and responsive
This year, the LWV-Wilmette will:
  • Encourage transparency by governing bodies
  • Continue to strengthen the Observer Corps
  • Promote civil discourse
  • Promote intergovernmental cooperation
  • Raise questions /issues for public awareness
  • Monitor Wilmette’s 2020 comprehensive plan process

​​On November 10th, the League hosted an evening dedicated to open civic engagement with our elected local government leaders. As is tradition, the State of the Village involved short presentations by a board member for each of seven governing bodies, followed by a moderated, thought-provoking Q&A session. The participating boards included:  Village of Wilmette, New Trier Township, Wilmette School District 39, Avoca School District 37, New Trier High School District 203, Wilmette Public Library and Wilmette Park District.
