personal statement

Please tell us something about yourself and what would make you an asset to the D203 Board.
I have an MBA, Master of Social Work, and a Master of Public Policy in Healthcare Policy from the University of Chicago. I am very analytical, data driven, detail oriented and a good communicator. As a professional health care consultant, I will also be able to offer my expertise in dealing with unexpected circumstances where our health and safety might be impacted.

RESPONSES TO VOTER GUIDE QUESTIONS

1. What do you hope to accomplish as a D203 Board member? Please explain why these goals are priorities for you.
  1. I would like to make sure our kids have the best educational opportunity to be well prepared for college and beyond through the solid academic foundations in their high school years.
  2. I would like to see racial equity properly implemented. A significant portion of our student body is students of Asian descent, and yet we do not have any board members of Asian descent to represent the needs of these students.

2. What are your financial priorities for D203 and how will you ensure they are implemented?
I want to make sure I fulfil my fiduciary responsibilities as a board member to our taxpayers by making sure we do not have any wasteful spending, and there is always active communication and full transparency to inform our taxpayers on spending.

3. Identify successes and/or failures you have seen in D203’s COVID-19 response, as well as any changes you would like to see while the pandemic continues.
I believe the negative impact on the mental and physical health of our students was far greater than the risk of catching COVID for most students. Instead of implementing the necessary safety measures and keeping the school open for those who were at low risk and wished to opt in for in-person classes, the school just shut down all together for everyone.

4. What are your priorities for D203 annual strategic planning during your term?
I am committed to supporting administrators and teachers and the academic success of our students aligned with a sustainable educational plan.

5. How will you work to align D203’s practices with the NT2030 Culture, Climate and Equity framework, and how broadly should these efforts reach?
  1. As a resident of ethnic minority descent, I will make sure New Trier’s racial equity practice is properly implemented.
  2. I will make sure we create an environment where the entire student body feels New Trier is a home, and every student is involved and engaged in something other than just the classwork.
