personal statement

I have served as Township Assessor for New Trier Township since July, 2014 after completing the coursework needed to receive the CIAO designation (Certified Illinois Assessing Officer).

responses to voter guide questions

  1. What are your priorities for your office?
My office has one priority: To help the residents of New Trier Township achieve fair and equitable property assessments and not pay more in property taxes than they should. Deputy Assessor Leonard Shifflett and I field several thousand inquiries a year assisting residents with appeals to the County Assessor and the Board of Review, Tax Bill reviews for accuracy, filing exemptions to help control property assessments, and any related issues. We work to help YOU save money, and we take that responsibility seriously.

  2. How can residents find out what they need to know about property assessments and property tax payments?
We recommend that you sign up for news and alerts on the New Trier Township website (www.newtriertownship.com). You can do this without having to sign up for all township news. Don’t forget – New Trier Township is NOT New Trier Township High School, so make sure you go to the township website, not the high school website. The County websites also contain all the information, but those websites have to provide all info for all county residents; we focus on what New Trier Township residents need. You can also call or email us (contact info is on the website). We’re your local resource.
