Subject line: Vote Yes for Fair Tax Reform This Election

Dear Friend,

It’s always a good idea to vote, but sometimes it can be easy for Illinois voters to feel a little left out during national election coverage. Fortunately, this year we have a state-specific choice to make on the ballot that can change our state for generations and fix an unfair system.

By voting yes on the Fair Tax amendment, voters will be able to guarantee a tax cut for all Illinoisans making less than $250,000 a year, while also generating billions of dollars annually that can be used for schools, seniors, veterans and other needed services in our communities.

Low and middle-income families will pay less, and the wealthiest will pay a little more. This is how it works almost everywhere else in our country.

Based on a comprehensive study, the  League of Women Voters of Illinois has steadfastly supported a graduated income tax for the past fifty years.  Our local league endorses this position, too. Visit our LWV-Wilmette Fair Tax Issue page (https://www.lwvwilmette.org/fair-tax.html) to learn the key facts and much more about the amendment.

Please do not forget to vote in November, and check “yes” when you get to the Fair Tax amendment. It is the first question on the ballot; don't miss it!

Thank you,
